The Windham Theatre Guild is seeking actors to be sorted into its spring production of Puffs by Matt Cox!

Auditions will be held on Monday & Wednesday, December 11 & 13, 2023 at 7 pm at the Burton Leavitt Theatre.

The show dates for this production will be April 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 14.

For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is a story of the Puffs…who just happen to be there, too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.

Puffs is one of the truest definitions of an ensemble show. Many of the actors cast will enjoy the creative liberty to represent multiple characters while exhibiting quick comedic timing and high energy.

Please be prepared to read multiple sides from the show and to engage with your fellow actors. You may be asked to use a variety of accents as well as read for characters that you may not be auditioning for.

While the characters of the Puffs house are teenagers, all ages 18 and up will be considered for casting. Please note the roles paired are based on the original production but may be subject to change:

Wayne Hopkins (M) – A nerdy wizard boy who is determined to be the hero…even if a certain boy with a magic scar keeps stealing all the thunder.

Oliver Rivers (M) – A math prodigy born to muggles. While spastic and nerdy, he struggles with basic magic. Wayne’s BFF and develops a crush on Megan.

Megan Jones (F) – If Wednesday Addams was sorted with the Puffs. Sarcastic, angry, and embarrassed to be a Puff, she yearns for love an acceptance at her core.

Narrator (M/F) – Our guide throughout the story, British, and has many heavy books.

Ernie Mac (M) – A boaster and hype man type who wants to be “the best Puff”.

·         Doubles as ‘A Very Tall Man’, Seamus, ‘A Certain Potions Teacher’, Professor Turban, Ghost History Teach, Professor Locky, Mr. Nick, Sal, Second Headmaster, and Real Mr. Moody.

Hannah (F) – A socially awkward and shy Puff who gets made fun of by the other houses.

·         Doubles as First Headmaster, Professor McG, Professor Sproutty, Xavia Jones, Professor Lanny, Runes Teach, and Ms. Babble

J. Finch Fletchley (M) – A very sweet and fun-loving Puff who may or may not be imaginary. Refers to J. Finch Fletchley in the third person.

·         Doubles as Uncle Dave, Goyle, ‘A Fat Friar’, Clumsy Longbottom, Hermeeone #3, Viktor, Mr. Bagman, and Zach Smith

Leanne (F) – A very excitable, very spacey, and occasionally wise Puff. Arguably the Puff with the purest heart.

·         Doubles as Ginny, Helga, and Frenchy

Sally Perks (F) – One of the coolest Puffs who has many admirers but keeps losing her glasses. Develops a crush on Wayne and would do almost anything for him to notice.

·         Doubles as Hermeeone, Blondo Malfoy, Rowena, Rita Scooter, and Bippy

Susie Bones (F) – A Puff who lives in fear of death due to the fact that her entire family died.

·         Doubles as Harry, Colin, Hermeeone #2, Ric Gryff, and Myrtle

Cedric (M) – The golden child of the Puffs. Charismatic, a great leader, but not the brightest tool in the shed.
